Three simple ways to green your event
TUCSON, Ariz. — The average person can do just three things to reduce their event’s environmental impactl, according to Beck Cowles, the director of the environmental resource center at the Ecology Center in Berkeley, Calif.
1. Minimize air travel. "Don't fly off in a jet airplane," Cowles said. "Don't have your family fly in a jet airplane." Keep the event small so that many people aren't traveling far to get to the event. 2. Use as many organic, locally grown or made and sustainably made resources as possible. Organic food, drinks, fabrics and flowers are available to help turn the whole event organic. 3. Cut your consumption. “Simplify (the party) to consume less in general,” she said. Instead of gifts, ask for donations to an environmental charity in your name. |
